Monday Night -Sides Speakeasy- 9pm

Deep amber coals, a single red curtain parted and the sad wail of a trumpet weeps from within the dark room. Along the far wall black and white moving pictures fade across the shadowed forms of fellows in hats pulled low and baby vamps veiled in candle light… this is the way step inside…

The speakeasy:
Sides* is a weekly voyage into the era of classic viper jazz, blues, hokum, Latin swing, big band, rhythm & blues, jug band, old-time, Western swing and obscure vocal oddities from 1925-1949. This unique free event happens every Monday night at the 515 in Santa Cruz from 9 to 12am.

Dressing Up:
For the maximum Sides experience we hope you will arrive decked in the appropriate threads. A comfortable speakeasy outfit does not need to be 100% vintage. There are a lot of things you can do to come up with something that has the right look and feel. Be Creative the idea is to have fun, do your best it will change your experience the more you put in to it.

Dancing:
We welcome all levels of dancers. The music at Sides is quite diverse so don’t hold back. You’ll hear music that goes beyond the boundries of the expected.. this is a place to explore many aspects dance and music. It is not expected that you must dance if you want to simply experience the atmpsphere.

The Venue:
The 515 Kitchen & Cocktails was an old house built in the the 1920s it compliments the music and films of the pre-depression and post-WWII era. Each week we recreate atmosphere of a past environment while DJ Tom LG spins the finest selection of vintage 45s and LPs in the country.

Classic Films:
We chose a themed double feature films each week that we project on the 99″ wall screen. We post commentaries and original trailers on the group page before each event so check the page often.
